Rest in Peace!

My father's older brother James was Fire Chief in Rhinelander, Wi. in the fifties and sixties. They moved the RFD to a new building in the late fifties. Cleaning out the old building Uncle Jim found old horse harnesses and bells for the horses which were used to warn people at intersections. No lights in those days. We had a horse and purchased a cutter/a small sleigh. Jim gave us the old pieces of harness and a string of sleigh bells which we used on our horse "Big Red" an American Saddle bred. Brother Jack put enough of the harnesses together for us to use. I gave the sleigh bells back to the RFD about ten yrs ago for them to display with other historical items.
